About Us
Victory English Fellowship (VEF) currently meets for worship on Sunday mornings at 9:00 AM and 1:30 PM in B1 of Victory Lutheran Church. Victory English Fellowship is a multi-cultural International Church. There are believers from all over the world that gather together to worship God in Spirit and Truth through testimonies, songs, and hearing God’s Word.
A Brief History of VEF
VEF is a part of Victory Lutheran Church (a part of the Chinese Lutheran Brethren Church). Victory was started in the 1950’s by an American Lutheran Brethren missionary. In 1955 the church bought a small tea house at the present location and named it Victory Church. In 1966 the congregation grew and a new building was built.
In the 1980s and 1990s Hsinchu City grew with the development of the Science Park and the church grew as well. Soon the building grew too small. In 1996 the current building was completed. God has blessed Victory over the past years and the congregation has grown from 30 to over 1400.
Victory English Fellowship began as a once-a-month outreach in January of 1998 in response to the growing presence of English-speaking people in Hsinchu.
Pastor Rocky Bronson was called as a full-time pastor in early 2007. While serving the church he married Ms. Rebecca Pao, who had served as a missionary in West Africa. Pastor Rocky served from 2007 to early 2011. The current pastor is John Olson. John is married to Caristy and has four young children, Nikolas, Mikah, Hadassah, and Steven. Jims Jeong joined the ministry staff in April of 2020 and is helping with evangelism, recruiting new leaders, and providing stability in a period of transition. Pastor Tom Curry and his wife Rhonda moved to Taiwan at the end of December 2020 to serve as the lead English pastor.
Currently around 190 people attend VEF’s Sunday morning and afternoon worship service.
